Pingyao Da Xitai (Pingyao Theater)
Pingyao Da Xitai was the entertainment place for those businessmen in Pingyao. Now it is a place for people to learn about and appreciate the local art of Pingyao. Shows of various types like the Jinzhong yangko (a kind of folk performance of north China), music and dance drama betray a vivid Pingyao with the theme of local people's daily life.

The station was built in 1933. It is in the central part of Shanxi Province. Pingyao Station is about 108 kilometers (67 miles) away from Taiyuan Station and 420 kilometers (260 miles) away from Huashan Station. It is about 600 kilometers (380 miles) northeast of Beijing and 540 kilometers (330 miles) west of Xian. The Tongpu railway line runs north to south. In the north, the line goes to Taiyuan and Shijiazhuang. In the south, it goes to Linfen and Yuncheng. The Pingyao Station is a transfer station for several railway lines such as the line between Taiyuan, Chengdu, Baoji, Fenglingdu and Yangquanxi; the one between Xi'an, Changchun and Baotou; and the one between Datong and Hangzhou.
Passenger Traffic: Passengers can check in luggage and parcels in the station.
Freight Service: It handles carloads, freight packages and container cargoes.
Transport: There are electric motorbikes and taxis available. The motorbike price to take you to the ancient city can be as low as 3 to 5 RMB. Taxis start at 6 RMB. If you want to go to the city on foot, it may take about 20 minutes.

Tourists can participate in these shows and enjoy the charm of this Old City. In addition, Pingyao Grand Theater stages many different kinds of local traditional performances every day. Though there are not so many clubs or bars here, you will be immersed in a unique life style of the ancient town evening, especially when numerous red lanterns hang in the avenues portraying a grand air.
China Pingyao International Photography Festival
It is held annually during mid September, which was inaugurated in 2001. The vent has grown rapidly, and in 2006, more than 10,000 photos shot by 1,200 photographers from 41 countries were shown. The size and feel of Pingyao make it an ideal venue for festival- goers to meet and share ideas about pictures. The exhibitions are housed within the factories, warehouses and courtyards spread throughout the city. Showcasing work in these abandoned buildings of yesteryear gives the festival a rough-hewn charm acclaimed as unique among major international exhibitions.
Shehuo Festival
This festival takes place during every Spring Festival here. Shehuo, evolved through history and matured in the Ming(1368-1644) and Qing(1644-1911) dynasties, has become a folk recreational activity showing local people's happiness and expressing their good wishes. The show includes stilt-walking, horse-riding, lion dances, dragon dances, land-boat yangge dance and man-carrying performances.
