Getting around Hangzhou by taxi is the most convenient way to travel. At present, there are more than 8000 taxis in Hangzhou and passengers can find a taxi almost anywhere in the city. The flag-down fare is CNY10 for the first 3 kilometers with CNY1 fuel surcharge. It costs CNY2 per kilometer for the next 3–10 kilometers. For over 10 kilometers the fare is CNY3 per kilometers.

Generally, it would cost about CNY100 to take a taxi from Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport to downtown Hangzhou. The trip from Hangzhou South Railway Station (in Xiaoshan) to Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport would cost CNY60 for about 30 minutes.
    Tips:
    1. 1. It would be hard to hail a taxi at around 3–7 o'clock in the afternoon since at this time drivers are usually changing shifts.
    2. If you want to go from Hangzhou airport or railway station to your hotel, it is highly recommended to take the airport shuttle bus or city bus rather than a taxi. Hangzhou taxis are well known as hard to hail, while the city bus system is well developed and easy to use.
    3. Passengers should use the "official" taxis (with a Taxi sign on the car) and pay the fare according to the meter.
    4. Passengers can refuse to pay the fare if the driver dropped a passenger on the way or refused to let passengers on.
