The Yueling Ancient Village mainly consists of six courtyards, which were said to be built by the ancestor here for his later generations-the Yuelingers today are all developed from one big family. With colorful designs on crimson background, elegant layout, the courtyards are exquisitely designed and look stately and graceful. The wells,millstones, fish ponds, flower gardens in these courtyards perfectly display the lifestyle of the Yuelingers.
All the roads running through the village are paved with huge thick slates. Wrought by the hand of time, the slates become as glossy as mirror.
History favored this place so much that it left here abundant relics. Visitors will find a lot of ancient architectures in Yueling, among which the most important ones includes: JieXiaoFang, WenChang Pavilion, LingYun Tower,,General's Temple, Ancient Blockhouse.
The JieXiaoFang was so elegantly constructed that it is reputed as the essence of the Chinese PaiFang. On the north and south of it are eight eye-striking Chinese characters "JianZhenZuShi", "XiaYiKeFang"which give honor to the chastity and filial piety. The eight words were so arranged that they seem quite dignified and stately. The PaiFang was ornamented with variety of sculptures such as the one : two dragons playing with pearl ,bearing rich connotations, reflecting the profundity in Chinese culture. Built in Qing dynasty, the paifang now has a long history of about 150 years. However, it is still well-preserved and remains what it was. Concentrating the arts of Chinese architecture, these ancient constructures are the embodiments of the wisdom of the Chinese people.
Also, Yueling boasts an incomparable natural beauty. Favorable climate, evergreen vegetation, abundant rivers and streams, series of mist-clapped mountains, vast field land make Yueling a fairyland.
Yueling is also famous for its reproductivity in fruits. The local Chinese date and pomegranate enjoy great reputation.
1. You should walk in a clockwise direction along the street.
2. It is better not stay too late in the street. Because there are many lanes there, it's easy to lose your way in the evening.
3. Different vendors may sell the same thing at different price. So you'd better ask several vendors and get more information of the articles. Of course, you should also know how to bargain with them.
4. According to the tradition of Tibet, the vendor will give a favorable price to the first customer and the last one in a day.
